George M. White, MD

Specialty: Orthopedics

Dr. George White is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in microvascular hand surgery and surgery of the shoulder, elbow and wrist. He graduated from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland in 1981. Dr. White completed his internship at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1981 and his residency at Johns Hopkins Department of General Surgery in 1985. In 1986, he completed three fellowships - two from Johns Hopkins (one in general surgery and one in orthopedic surgery) and a hand fellowship at the Raymond Curtis Hand Center at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore.

Dr. White is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, receiving the Certificate of Added Qualifications for Hand Surgery in 1998. He has been a member of the American Medical Association since 1977; a member of the Florida Medical Association, the Orange County Medical Society and a fellow of the Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons since 1986; and member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand since 1990. Dr. White is currently the President of Orlando Hand Surgery Associates and an attending physician at Florida Hospital, Orlando Regional Medical Center and the Winter Park Memorial Hospital.

Dr. White is originally from Detroit, Michigan. He currently lives in Orlando with his wife, Charlotte, and three children: Brian, Mark and Julia. 

Eugenio F. Bird, MD

Specialty: Ophthalmology

Dr. Eugenio Bird is a board-certified ophthalmologist who earned his medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine in 1980. He joined the army after graduation and attained the rank of Major in the U.S. Medical Corps with two decorations before receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1991. During his service he completed a surgical internship at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, HI, an Ophthalmology residency at Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco, CA, and a fellowship in Cornea/External Diseases & Refractive Surgery at Hermann Eye Center - University of Texas in Houston, TX. He was also the chairman of the Eye, Ear, Nose & Throat Department at the Baynes Jones Army Community Hospital in Fort Polk, LA from 1987 to 1989.

Dr. Bird is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a member of the Florida Medical Association and Orange County Medical Society. He is an associate professor at Interamerican University School of Optometry in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He has hospital privileges at Florida Hospital in Orlando and Winter Park Memorial Hospital in Winter Park.

Mark D. Schellhammer, DO

Specialty: Orthopedics

Dr. Schellhammer is an board-certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in arthroscopic surgery, independent medical evaluations, sports medicine, and consultations. He received his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM), widely considered one of the oldest and largest osteopathic medical schools in the country. He served his residency in Orthopaedics in Lansing, Michigan and his fellowship at Michigan State University, located in nearby East Lansing.

Dr. Schellhammer is a member of the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and the American Osteopathic Association. He is affiliated with Orlando Regional Healthcare, and is a staff physician at the Florida Center for Orthopedics.

Mark S. Chaet, MD

Specialty: General Surgery

Dr. Chaet is a board-certified physician who is considered central Florida's most respected pediatric surgeon. He earned his medical degree from the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia and completed his general surgery training at the University of South Florida in Tampa. Dr. Chaet completed his pediatric fellowship at the Riley Children's Hospital at Indiana University in Bloomington, and at Cincinnati Children's Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Dr. Chaet is a Diplomat of the American Board of Surgery and received the Certificate of Special Competence in Pediatric Surgery. He is a member of the American Pediatric Surgical Association, the American Board of Surgery and the Children's Oncology Group. He is the Program Director for the Minimally Invasive Surgical Fellowship and the Medical Director of the Orlando Surgical Center.

Timothy C. Childers, MD

Specialty: General Surgery

Dr. Childers is a general surgeon certified by the American Board of Surgery. He is a graduate of Swarthmore College in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania and earned his medical degree from the University of Florida in Gainesville. In addition to attending medical school, Florida is where he completed his surgical internship and surgical residency.

Dr. Childers is a member of the Orange County Medical Society, the American College of Surgeons Florida Chapter and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has been awarded the Florida Chapter of American College of Surgeons Young Surgeon Award, as well as the Florida State University College of Medicine Clerkship Director Award. He is affiliated with Florida Hospital in Orlando, Orlando Health Systems, Orlando Surgery Center and the Physicians Surgical Care Center.

Dr. Childers has been practicing at Surgical Associates of Central Florida in Winter Park since 2000, and has been an Associate Professor of Clinical Sciences at Florida State University's College of Medicine. He was raised in Gainesville, Florida. He is a true "Gator" and actively defends his team and his alma mater. He loves all sports, is a swimmer, golfer and thoroughly enjoys his weekly game of pick-up basketball.

Thomas K. Mahan, MD

Specialty: General Surgery

Dr. Mahan is a board-certified general surgeon in the Orlando area. He earned his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, and completed his general surgery specialty training at the Louisiana State University Medical Center in New Orleans. From 1998 to 1999, Dr. Mahan served as the Academic Teaching/Chief Resident for the Department of Surgery at the LSU Medical Center. He is currently an Associate Professor of Surgery at both the Florida State University College of Medicine (since 2003) and the St. Matthew's School of Medicine (since 2008).

Dr. Mahan is a member of the Florida Medical Association and the Orange County Medical Society, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is affiliated with the Florida Hospital in Orlando, Orlando Health Systems, the Orlando Surgery Center and the Physicians Surgical Care Center. He is currently practicing at Surgical Associates of Central Florida in Winter Park.

Dr. Mahan was born and raised on the Delmarva peninsula and developed his love of water sports there. He now enjoys the year around opportunities to barefoot water ski, scuba dive, and fish. On his day off, you can usually find him in, on, or under the water.

Robert S. Roberts, MD

Specialty: Orthopedics

Dr. Roberts is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in arthroscopic surgery and sports medicine. He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia in 1979. He completed his internship in general surgery the following year at Lankenau Hospital at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. Dr. Roberts completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the Orlando Regional Medical Center from 1980 to 1984.

Dr. Roberts is a member of the American Medical Association, the Florida Medical Society and the Florida Orthopaedic Society. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
